BEWARE -- when listening to the samples above watch out for the dynamics! This exercise starts at p and then jumps up to ff!
Taps and tap control are immensely important parts of being a good percussionist. In order to help performers build their tap technique Joey put this exercise together.
It starts off focusing solely on those 3 inch taps. As the exercise progresses the basses get more and more complex splits, the tenors start moving around, and the snares start incorporating more notes. There are even some tricky accent patterns in there as well.
Because of those accent patterns and bass splits we've rated this exercise at the intermediate level. If you start slow and break down the splits to their base notes (16ths into 8ths for example) players/ensembles that are more towards the novice side of the spectrum should be able to pick this up and build towards the full version.
