It was once said by a famous percussion writer/educator on the east coast that the line that masters playing at two heights will win at championships; we think he had a good point there. What's the best way to be that line? We think using an exercise like this is definitely a vehicle that will aid in getting there.
After listening to this piece a few times we realized that sure, it's not hard in terms of notes or patterns, but that doesn't mean an advanced line couldn't benefit from it. In fact, because it grooves and is fun to play we sincerely think any line could benefit from playing this piece. Besides, when did practicing taps and accents ever hurt an ensemble? Got it? Good. Get it!
