Casey performed this piece at the 2005 DCI individual and ensemble snare drum competition with flying colors. With a complex and demanding musical structure accompanied by innovative visual / audio layering, Casey won the title of the 2005 DCI I&E snare drum champion.
While composing "Collected" Casey had a diverse collection of musical and visual references that helped shape this solo. Many rhythmic ideas came from artists such as Trent Reznor, Outkast, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. Visual inspirations came from Val Kilmerʼs character Doc Holliday from the motion picture Tombstone and flair bartenders.
Casey would like to thank Greg Anderson, for always being a person to write with and Micah Brusse, for not telling on me for staying up past “lights out” and practicing.
When you purchase this from D'Rumpus you get recordings at slower tempos so you can really master the beats before reefing up the met!
