Josiah Fiebelkorn

Hey guys! My name is Josiah and I'm glad I get to be a part of such a great company. Well, to start off, I'm a junior in high school and I play marimba in the front ensemble. I've been involved with music since middle school. I've been a percussionist ever since.

The funny thing about my story to writing music is that I stumbled across it. I was searching the internet for music (in general) and came across a free composition program called Musescore. So, I tried it out. I started off with writing for brass instruments and being a percussionist, I didn't know much about brass instruments. Through experimentation and what not, my pieces started to sound alright.

After marching band started (in August, 2012) I had a new desire to write music for percussion ensembles. That turned out a lot better. Writing for percussion ensembles comes very natural to me; it’s a lot of fun and a lot to learn at the same time! Because I am in highschool I still have time to continue to grow my skills as a musician and as a writer. I like writing music because music is my life, it is what I love to and hope to do for a long time.

"I was born with music inside me. Music was one of my parts. Like my ribs, my kidneys, my liver, my heart. Like my blood. It was a force already within me when I arrived on the scene. It was a necessity for me like food or water." -Ray Charles

I love that quote because it is so true for me. Music has been apart of me for a long time. So I hope that you enjoy my music as much as I do!
